Walking to bring hope to violence and abuse victims
The walk started in Pretoria and will end with the Ruimsig parkrun in Roodepoort on 12 October.
Forty-five-year-old Leilani Kuter from Little Falls was brutally raped and left for dead when she was only 18 years old.
On 16 September 2019, the 27th anniversary of her rape ordeal, the brave survivor embarked on a 27-day journey, aiming to walk a total of 729km.
The walk started in Pretoria and will end with the Ruimsig parkrun in Roodepoort on 12 October.
Leilani said, “I’m taking a stand against violence and abuse. Today, millions of voices stand together for both the purpose and the cause, in the hope of creating positive and impactful change.”
The community is encouraged to support the cause and join the brave Leilani on her walk. Send a WhatsApp to 071 883 3346, indicating the specific time when you would like to walk with her.
Leilani’s intention, given the increase in cases of abuse and murders of women, is to bring hope to and build the strength of women affected by acts of brutality perpetrated against them.
