A day of soccer for the men in blue
The Laudium team gained automatic entry into the tournament as they were the defending champs.
The police’s Gauteng Football Association held their Station Champs of Champions One Day Tournament at Princess High School in Roodepoort on Saturday, 14 September.
The teams that participated on the day came from seven clusters, each team being the champions of their respective leagues in the 2018/ 19 season.
The participating stations were from Sophiatown, the Vereeniging Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC), Eersterus, Magalies, Moroka, Katlehong, and Tembisa, plus the 2018 champions from Laudium, who gained automatic entry into the tournament as they are the defending champs.
The quarterfinals saw the Sophiatown, Laudium, Magalies and Eersterus teams all qualifying for the semi-finals.
The final was played by the consistent Laudium team against a well-organised Eersterus team, both of whom fought tooth and nail to be crowned the champions of the 2018/ 19 season.
The Laudium team shattered the dreams of their opponents as they netted three impressive goals, thus accomplishing their campaign of successfully defending the title.
The men in blue from Tshwane were once again crowned champions of the Old Mutual- sponsored tournament as the final score was 3–0 in their favour.
