On 29 August, BCI Security received a call from a terrified shepherd who was herding his sheep on a piece of land on Alec Road in Honeydew.
The panic signal was received and a reaction officer doing his routine patrols responded to the distress call. Upon BCI’s arrival, the shepherd informed the responding officer and the owner of the land that he had seen the bones of a ‘ghost’ next to the river.
After investigating the claim, the remains of an adult human were discovered. BCI Security Management, the West Rand Police Search and Rescue K9 unit and Honeydew Police were on scene. After the K9 unit secured the scene, the Police Pathology unit was alerted to photograph the scene, document their findings and remove the remains.
Investigations are still ongoing but the scene is believed to be a suicide.
