The Trinityhouse Little Falls chess teams made their school proud when they participated in the Gauteng Team Chess Championships on 24 August.
The three teams, the U/19s, U/17s and U/13s, travelled to Pretoria for the competition where they put on their A-game.
The results were as follows: The U/19s won two games, drew one and lost two, landing them in 13th place out of 24 schools, which was seen as an excellent achievement by the school. The U/15 team won three games, drew one and lost one, ending in an impressive 5th position out of 25 schools, a victory that meant they listed 5th in the province. The U/13s won fewer games and were placed 19th out of 31 schools.
Grade 9 learner, Moneri Mali, stood out as he was ranked the best player for winning all of his games in his division.
“Many lessons were learned and the hard work paid off in these outstanding results. We can say the future of chess at Trinityhouse Little Falls is safe and improving every year,” David Brown, the senior deputy principal commented.
