ProTouch takes on the final stage in Portugal

The team’s next stop is Tour d’Indonesia which starts on 19 August 2019.

On Monday, 5 August, ProTouch Cycling took on the final stage of the Volta a Portugal in the form of a 20,04km time trial from Vila Nova de Gaia to Porto.

The team had three finishers – Kent Main, Clint Hendricks and James Fourie.

Team Principal, Tony Harding, said, “These three have equipped themselves with the mental strength to never be scared or have any doubt in themselves as cyclists.”

Only 103 riders out of 131 starters completed the tour. “This is an incredibly tough tour but it was important for ProTouch to come and see where they stand, in order to grow and take on tougher international racing,” Tony added.

The final General Classification results were Kent Main – 39th, Clint Hendricks – 84th and James Fourie – 103rd.

The team’s next stop is Tour d’Indonesia which starts on 19 August 2019. The line-up includes Eddie van Heerden, Calvin Beneke, Reynard Butler, Mitch Eliot and Rohan du Plooy.

All five will also compete in the Tour of China next month, and will be joined by Jaydé Julius who, together with Clint Hendricks and Kent Main, will have completed the 2019 African Games in Morocco.

After completing the Tour of China, ProTouch continues on to the Tour of Iran. The Continental Team will include stagiaire (an amateur cyclist temporarily riding for a professional team) Callum Ormiston while the Tour of Senegal, which wraps up the season, will include stagiaire Ryan Terry.
