Zandspruit field reconditioned by local aircon business

Some employees worked around the field offloading compost using wheelbarrows while others assisted by spreading it out and levelling the ground using gardening tools.

They are known for the import and distribution of leading products in the airconditioning business, but on Mandela Day, Fourways Airconditioning distributed a rather unusual product in Zandspruit.

The employees of this Honeydew-based company rolled up their sleeves and donated compost to renew the grass on a soccer field at the Emthonjeni Community Centre.

The field is used by a school and the community for sport-related activities.

Some employees worked around the field, offloading compost using wheelbarrows, while others assisted by spreading it out and levelling the ground using gardening tools. This was done in shifts.

The CEO of the company, Richard Perry, spoke about their initiative and also cited the importance of community outreach.

“We had the compost delivered the day before Mandela Day. Our job was to spread it on the field on Mandela Day and then wait for water trucks to come in and irrigate the field. Rehabilitating the field was very important because of the role it plays in the day-to-day lives of the children of the community,” he explained.

“Fourways Airconditioning likes to do its bit for the community too, just like the other companies that invest their time in community projects,” said Richard.
