The Pinehaven intersection and other nearby intersections in the vicinity of Cradlestone Mall in Muldersdrift continue to be hijacking hot spots, despite various visibility patrols.
The latest incident of hijacking was reported at the Muldersdrift Police Station after a motorist was held at gunpoint and driven around before being dropped off last week.

The spokesperson for the station, Constable Slindile Ntuli, elaborated on the incident. “On Tuesday, 16 July, at about 10am, a 30-year-old person was driving a white Toyota Hilux at the corner of Hendrik Potgieter and Furrow Roads. As he stopped at the traffic light, two suspects approached him, threatened him with firearms and forced him cooperate. They then blindfolded the victim and drove off with him,” she explained.
She added that the suspects took the victim to another vehicle and drove around with him for a while. “They took the victim’s cellphone and dropped him off at Slovo Park in Springs,” she further explained.
Ntuli admitted that the area was still problematic. “The Pinehaven intersection is a hot spot for hijackings, therefore motorists should be vigilant at all times,” she cautioned.
She also appealed to anyone with information that might lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact the Muldersdrift Police on 011 952 4600 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
