Thank you for running the story about the unregistered PLG schools. Never in my life would I have thought you should ask for the registration number of a school, especially if they were operating from 2016, which is when Curro Wilgeheuwel, that has now taken some of the PLG school kids, began operating.
These so-called affordable private schools are popping up everywhere and because parents are so desperate to not put their kids in a government school with 36 plus kids in a class, they opt for these alternatives, not realising that you need to check that they are accredited and registered.
Parents need to be made aware and government needs to stop these schools from operating. They should also build more public schools.
My child is still without a school, and asks every day when he will be going to school again. We now have to come up with application and registration fees, new school uniforms, new stationery and books in the middle of the year. We haven’t planned for this, yet PLG is going on like nothing has happened. I can’t believe it.
