Actress celebrates double milestones

The talented Zikhona combined celebrating her birthday and her achievement by hosting close friends and industry colleagues at the Rooftop Lounge in Honeydew, where she had the night of her life.

 

Her unexpected accolade at the 15th Annual Naledi Theatre Awards and turning age 34 on 7 June, culminated in an evening during which actress Zikhona Sodlaka commemorated her hard work and growth in showbiz.

Zikhona recently scooped the award for the Best Lead Actress in a stage play at the prestigious awards event, although she is well known for her roles in television series such as Rhythm City, Generations, Igazi and Montana.

The talented Zikhona combined celebrating her birthday and her achievement by hosting close friends and industry colleagues at the Rooftop Lounge in Honeydew, where she had the night of her life.

The Northsider caught up with the eloquent and stylish star, who reflected on her achievement. “I didn’t know about the nomination, it was a colleague who texted me to congratulate me. I am proud that my colleagues and I maintain a very [healthy] relationship. Fast-forward to the night, I was beaming with excitement because I had been nominated among some of legendary performing artists in my category,” she explained.

She added, “It’s still surreal. I had to get up and go on stage because being acknowledged for your work is not a joke. It was a very welcome surprise for me.”

She concluded by thanking her colleagues and friends for braving the winter chill and honouring her invitation to the celebratory event.
