Thulane has gone AWOL
This is worrying for the BEPR monitors as he is usually in the vicinity the whole day.
The Black Eagle Project Roodekrans (BEPR) could have reason to be concerned as one of the black eagles in the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens appears to have gone missing.

Thulane, the male eagle, has not been seen at the nest where Makatsa is incubating the eggs since yesterday, Sunday 9 June, and has not returned as yet.
This is worrying for the BEPR monitors, as he is usually in the vicinity the whole day.

Gerald Draper, Chairman of the BEPR said, “Thulane still has not pitched and we have a team of people walking the ridge to try and spot him, He’s done this before and disappeared for two days and it is possible that he has gone further in search of a catch.”
The worrying factor is that since the eggs are very close to hatching, Makatsa has to eat and Thulane needs to come back with food.
The team members have walked from the R28 to Rangeview with no sign of the eagle. They will be walking from Rangeview to the Water Tower a bit later today.
The BEPR is still not sure of the whereabouts of the Thulani and hopes that he will return later today.
