Lesego Primary equestrian succeeds at SANESA

Blessing and her Appaloosa pony, Kondos Andraki II, achieved great results.

Blessing Gumbo, a Grade 2 learner from Lesego Primary School in Muldersdrift, achieved outstanding results at the third SANESA Interschools Gauteng West qualifier in May.

The event took place at Maple Ridge Equestrian Farm in the Cradle of Humankind, and saw hundreds of young horse riders competing for their schools.

Blessing and her Appaloosa pony, Kondos Andraki II, achieved the following results in the Level 0 competition:

• Position one in Dressage

• Position one in Performance Riding

• Position four in Working Riding

Blessing, who only starting riding competitively this year, has her lessons at Glover Paddocks Equestrian Park (GPEP) in Honeydew. Kerryn Maher, owner of GPEP, said that Blessing had worked really hard to prepare for this show, and that her performance at the show was a direct result of this.

“We are hoping to see Blessing win plenty more rosettes this year and she and Andraki undoubtedly have a bright future together. Glover Paddocks is hoping to attract more young riders to ride for their schools just like Blessing does. These young equestrians are the future of the sport and we want to be a part of that exciting future,” Kerryn said.
