“Upon arrival, the reaction officer was informed that a person was busy shoplifting. When the officer investigated, the person tried to run away. The officer gave chase and apprehended the suspect.”

A suspect was apprehended for shoplifting at one of the stores in the Retail Crossing Shopping Centre in Strubens Valley on Monday, 27 May.

According to BCI Security operations manager, Rudi Holtzhausen, a panic alarm was activated from the shopping centre and their officer responded. “Upon arrival, the reaction officer was informed that a person was busy shoplifting. When the officer investigated, the person tried to run away. The officer gave chase and apprehended the suspect,” he explained.

This incident comes two days after an armed robbery at PEP in the same shopping centre, during which the criminals stole new cellphones and R5 000 from the tills.
