Various sports enjoyed on Derby Day

According to Brandon Townsend, the school's marketer, the 2019 edition was not just an ordinary Derby Day as the school is celebrating 30 years in education.

Vuleka School, a Church School of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa, recently held a fun-filled annual Derby Day in Weltevreden Park.

The school borrowed the Agape Christian School’s playgrounds to host their eventful day which consisted of various sports.

According to Brandon Townsend, the school’s marketer, the 2019 edition was not just an ordinary Derby Day, as the school is celebrating 30 years in education.

“The five primary schools came together to compete against each other in soccer, netball and chess. The focus for the day was for the learners to be out and to have fun, with an element of competition,” he explained.

However, he said, this year they started the day with a birthday celebration. “Our executive head, Sanele Majola, and Vicky Makhathini, our deputy chairman, kick-started the day by inspiring parents and the learners with their talks,” he said.

“The parents from each of the schools were challenged at the beginning of year to bake a cake for the day, and they definitely did not disappoint,” Brandon said.
