The power supply to parts of Wards 85 and 97 has been interrupted following the theft of cables in the early hours of this morning, Wednesday, 22 May.
Strubens Valley, Little Falls and Wilgeheuwel have been listed by Ward 97 councillor, Leah Knott, as some of the affected suburbs.

“The continuous power surges being experienced in Wilgeheuwel and Strubens Valley are the result of a cable being stolen on Florin Road (which supplies power from the Christiaan De Wet Road Substation). City Power has had to divert supply from the Peter Road Substation to the affected areas. The lights flicker when a line gets to maximum load as there is an automatic throttle on the system. Residents of Wards 85 and 97 are urged to keep electricity usage down to avoid outages until the cable can be replaced,” Leah communicated in a Facebook post.
She added, “The other set of cables at the same location were stolen in the early hours of this morning. Strubens Valley, Little Falls and Wilgeheuwel will remain without power until they can be replaced”.
