
The Muldersdrift Police are appealing for information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects who were involved in a house robbery and assault on a resident of Swartkop.

According to the spokesperson for the station, Constable Slindile Ntuli, the victim, aged 53, was assaulted by four or five suspects at about 3am on Sunday morning, 7 April.

“It is alleged that the victim was sleeping in his room when he was accosted by four or five suspects, who overpowered him with a big ‘bobbejaan’ spanner and hit him several times on his upper body,” Slindile explained.
After the assault, the suspects walked away with several electronic appliances. “The victim was taken to hospital for medical attention, but the suspects are still at large,” she said.
According to Drift Reaction, the victim’s family reported on Monday that he was in ICU, and posted a photo of the victim, naming him as Riaan Smith.
