Female friend ditched after accident

“A search of the bushes revealed the female who was hiding. She claimed she was injured and was carried back to the road by one of our TRT members,” he explained.

A BCI Security Incident Unit member was left with unanswered questions after assisting at a collision in the early hours of the morning on 27 March on Christiaan de Wet Road in Strubens Valley.

The member received an alert about a vehicle collision and went out to investigate if any injuries were sustained. “Upon his arrival, he found a single vehicle accident and nobody at the vehicle. He noticed two males and a female walking on the side of the road further along. As he approached the three people, they fled into bushes alongside Christiaan de Wet Road heading towards Strubens Valley,” said Gary Jordaan, the company’s media liaison.

He said the officer called for backup from the BCI Tactical Response and Armed Response teams. “A search of the bushes revealed the female, who was hiding. She claimed she was injured and was carried back to the road by one of our TRT members” he explained.

Gary said ER24 was called to the scene but refused treatment.

He added that a search was undertaken for about an hour for the two males who ran away leaving their female friend behind. “Unfortunately they couldn’t be located in the thick bush but were tracked to a small stream where the track was lost.”

“The woman could not explain why they had run away from our Incident Support Unit, but we suspect that alcohol and narcotics played a role in them leaving the scene of the accident,” he speculated.

“Officers from the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department arrived on scene and took over the investigation into the events leading up to and the cause of the accident. It was then discovered that the vehicle was a rental from a company in Fourways,” he concluded.
