Six parkrunners celebrate milestones in Ruimsig
Six runners reached pretty significant milestones at the Ruimsig parkrun on 2 March.
For some, it’s enough to finish a parkrun, but for others, one isn’t enough.
The Ruimsig parkrun was launched on 15 September last year, with close to 1 300 runners, and has since become one of the larger parkruns in the Roodepoort area averaging anywhere between 800 and 1 000 runners week in and week out. Every week, parkruns around the country welcome new runners who reach amazing milestones such as their 50th, 100th, 150th, and 200th parkruns, with some even achieving milestones as volunteers.

On 2 March, at the 26th edition of the race, six of the runners of the Ruimsig parkrun achieved three of these milestones, with three half-centurions, two centurions, and one Junior 10 Club inductee crossing the finish line outside Ruimsig Stadium. The three half-centurions were (with their personal bests) Wouter van Wyk (27:28), Kobus Munro (40:43), and Andrea Enslin (44:53), who also volunteered for the 25th time which is an amazing milestone on its own. The two runners who brought up a century of parkruns were Paul Enslin (29:46) and Adriaan Viljoen (38:05), while the newest member of the Junior 10 Club was Nicole Chavanga.
