EWC 11 serves up even more entertainment
It even included a no-contest result in the 11th fight of the night.

The third EWC Fight Night held at Hyundai Weltevreden Park was an absolute hit with the spectators, who were able to enjoy three title fights on 23 February.
While it was only the third EWC Fight Night at Hyundai, it was the 11th overall event and brought together some of the best amateur MMA fighters from across the African continent. The fight card for the night pitted 30 fighters against each other in 15 fights of which four were part of an 8-man welterweight knockout tournament, and a further three were title fights.
The first of the welterweight fights was the seventh fight of the evening, with Adolphe Diego and Henko Hodgman locking horns.
The fight was the first of the night to go the distance, but after three rounds Adolphe was the first to progress to the semifinals as the result of a unanimous decision by the judges.
The next fight was between Ruffus Matsiumba and Letaoli Makgalamela. Ruffus, ever the showman, managed to progress to the next round through a split decision from the judges. The third knockout fight pitted Stephen Diedericks against Stiaan Brown, with Stiaan emerging victorious by means of a guillotine choke.
The final knockout fight featured the only Mayhem fighter of the night, as Dirk Smit took on Guellor King in what would turn out to be a controversial fight for the fans. The fight very nearly went the full three rounds, with Dirk barely hanging on and having to push through an onslaught of blows from Guellor.
However, in the third round Guellor executed an illegal kick to Dirk’s head, disqualifying himself in the process. Dirk had to be stretchered off after the fight and be treated for concussion, with paramedics eventually clearing him a couple of hours later.
The first title fight, for the featherweight title, was the 13th fight of the night, with Ben Sheltyon taking on Khutso Legodi. Khutso emerged victorious through a knockout to claim the featherweight belt.
To follow that up there was a women’s bantamweight title fight between Christine Wolmarans and Atonia Moreira, with Christine hoping to defend her title. Taking on the only opponent to ever beat her, it was always going to be tough for Christine and finally after the second round she verbally submitted to Atonia after taking a knock to her knee.
Finally, Martin Ngcimukhondo took on Eduardo Barros who was challenging him for the bantamweight title.
The fight went the full five rounds and made for some amazing spectating with Eduardo dethroning Martin by a split decision.
