Suspect apprehended and vehicle recovered following high speed chase

The chase occured shortly after 2pm.

The suspect has been apprehended and a vehicle recovered after a high speed chase ended in Roodekrans this afternoon.

According to Johnny Shaw, DMS Security Operations Manager, there had been a reports put out regarding a white Toyota Fortuner and grey Hilux driving recklessly in Poortview. DMS Security officers then reacted, and as one vehicle entered Totius Road the two suspect vehicles went past and proceeded up CR Swart Road towards Roodekrans.

The officers then began pursuing the vehicles, at which point the Hilux tried to push past two vehicles at the Ouklip Road/ CR Swart intersection in Roodekrans. The suspect pushed past the vehicles and went into oncoming traffic before turning right onto Ouklip.

The vehicle then drove onto the pavement and stalled in the process. The security officers then arrived and pulled the suspect from the vehicle, apprehending him.

The suspect was unarmed when apprehended, while his associates in the Fortuner got away. Police and the Flying Squad were involved, and police arrived on scene shortly thereafter to arrest the suspect and conduct investigations.
