WATCH: Drooping powerlines cause danger on Pierre Road

The drooping cables have restricted the flow of traffic that has been diverted from Beyers Naudé Drive.

While Beyers Naudé Drive remains a no-go area due to an ongoing protest, motorists have also been warned of another dangerous situation in nearby Zandspruit.

Reports and footage of live cables sagging across Pierre Road emerged on Tuesday, 5 February. The drooping cables have restricted the flow of traffic which has been diverted from Beyers Naudé Drive.

On the footage, some residents can be seen risking their lives trying to lift up the cables in order for vehicles to pass by. The MMC for Economic Development and Ward 97 councillor, Leah Knott, indicated that she has escalated the problem to City Power. She said they will be attending to the situation as soon as they have access.
