Puma School of Speed returning to Ruimsig this weekend
From the five School of Speed meets, a selection of athletes will be scouted to join the Puma team.
After a highly successful start to the 2019 season in Stellenbosch on 26 January, the Puma School of Speed is returning to Ruimsig Stadium on Saturday, 2 February, when junior track and field stars will get to follow in the footsteps of the World’s Fastest Man, Usain Bolt, at the Puma School Of Speed #2.
Launched in November 2016, the series is committed to the development of athletics talent in South Africa by discovering the fastest young Speedsters.
“The Puma School Of Speed is a highlight on the South African track and field calendar,” said Michael Meyer, Managing Director at Stillwater Sports, who help organise the series. “South Africa boasts exceptionally strong talent in these arenas, and we are proud to team up with Puma as we strive to discover and nurture this talent.”
“The energy experienced at the school’s meets is unsurpassed,” said Puma’s Marketing Director, Brett Bellinger. “The 2019 series kicked off at the Coetzenburg Athletics Stadium on Saturday, 26 January, where the atmosphere was electric, with each event overflowing with talent.
“It was the perfect start to the series,” he continued. “We can’t wait to see what the school delivers this coming weekend. We are excited to continue growing the exhilarating sport of track and field athletics, and look forward to growing our Puma ambassador programme in 2019.”
Entrance for all athletes is free, but entries close on Thursday, 31 January. Spectator entrance will be R20 for adults, and R10 for children, which is a bargain considering the talent that will be keeping the crowds entertained on the day.
