Welridge Grade 1s begin their primary school careers

The little ones stayed strong and next to no one cried on their first day.

Welridge Academy’s 2019 Grade 1 group kicked off their 2019 school year on Wednesday, 9 January, leaving their preschool lives in the dust.

As per usual for Welridge, the nerve-wracking morning (more so for the parents) started off with a special assembly for the Grade Rs and Grade 1s as well as their parents.

The Grade Rs were the first group to be sorted, as they began their final year of pre-primary school before they move on to their first year of primary school next year.

Once the Grade Rs were sorted into their classes, it came time for the moms and dads to watch as their Grade 1s were assigned their classes for the biggest year of their school career thus far. Then Welridge’s 32 Grade 1 learners made the trek to their new classes alongside their new teachers for the year.

Bubbling with excitement, the little ones stood strong and there were only one or two whose waterworks were running because they didn’t want to leave mom and dad behind. Some took selfies with funny faces with mom and dad before they had to leave, making sure the special day was kept in the vault for a long, long time to come.
