“The incident occurred on Monday, 10 December 2018 in Driefontein, Muldersdrift. It was alleged that the victim, aged 38, went to open the gate for her husband, aged 40. As they were approaching the house, three attackers armed with firearms emerged. They pointed the firearms at both victims and forced them inside the house after firing a shot outside the door,” Ntuli explained.
She added, “Once inside the house, the whole family was woken up and ordered into the lounge. The assailants took electronic appliances and fled the scene on foot.”
According to Ntuli, during the early hours of Friday 28 December, the Criminal Intervention Squad, Iron Fist Squad as well as the Police Trio Task Team pounced on the two suspects in Rietfontein.
“Four alarm radio transmitters and a drop safe were found in their possession. The suspects were formally charged and will remain behind bars as bail will be opposed,” she said.
The arrest was commended by the Muldersdrift Police station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Mankontsho Setlhare.
