Eight-year-old seriously injured in Doreen road accident

Local authorities were also on the scene to conduct further investigations.

An eight-year-old boy was left seriously injured at about midday on Friday, 30 November when he was knocked over by a light delivery vehicle on Doreen Road.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at the Doreen and Malcolm Roads intersection in Ruimsig at 1.30pm to find the young boy lying on the sidewalk, with the vehicle that had knocked the boy over parked a short distance away. Paramedics assessed the boy and found that he had sustained injuries to his head and face, leaving him in a serious condition.

The patient was treated for his injuries and provided with pain-relief medication before he was transported to the Charlotte Maxeke Provincial Hospital for further care. Fortunately, no-one in the vehicle sustained any injuries.
