Mario Gomes hip hop crews excel in 2018
The Quarantine and The Rebellion dance crews will be representing the country in Croatia next year.
Two hip hop dance crews, The Quarantine and The Rebellion from Mario Gomes Hip Hop Dance Academy have had a year of dance competitions that surpassed all expectations.
The Quarantine is a crew of boys and girls from ages seven to 12 years old, specialising in all hip hop street dance styles. They are the 2017 Common Wealth World Champions. This year this kiddies crew has achieved the following crowns: West Rand Hip Hop Championships; Roodepoort Festival; Global Dance Supreme Gauteng Qualifier and Dance Star South Africa Qualifier, which opened doors for them to represent South Africa at the 2019 Dance Star World Masters in Croatia. The Rebellion is also a crew of boys and girls, but from ages 13 to16 years specialising in all hip hop street dance styles and currently has the top junior solo dancers in the country.
This pool of talent is also the 2017 Common Wealth Junior Hip Hop Champions. They’ve had a good run this year by winning the West Rand Hip Hop Championships, Roodepoort Dance Festival and qualifying for the 2019 Dance Star World Masters in Croatia.
