Trucks closely monitored by JMPD on Doreen Road
At a Honeydew Sector 3 meeting on 14 November, Mrubata said during their patrols he had not seen a truck on Doreen Road for about three days.
Following a complaint about heavily loaded trucks using Doreen Road, Superintendent Wandile Mrubata of Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) has assured motorists that they are being monitored by officials.

At a Honeydew Sector 3 meeting on 14 November, Mrubata said during their patrols he had not seen a truck travelling on Doreen Road for about three days.
However, this was disputed by a resident who indicated that trucks were still using the route after JMPD patrol hours.

Mrubata said they were doing their level best to prevent trucks from using Doreen with the help of the signs on the road in both directions, warning truckers to avoid the route.
He added that when a trucker is caught red-handed, he and the truck will be escorted off the road and issued a fine of R500.
The residents, however, felt the fine wasn’t enough and what they really demanded is for trucks and buses to be barred from using Doreen Road. Mrubata responded by saying, “We are pushing the Department of Transport and the Joburg Roads Agency (JRA) to prohibit trucks from using that road”.

If that doesn’t work out, Mrubata also indicated that the Department of Transport and the Joburg Roads Agency (JRA) would have to come up with a road expansion plan which will allow trucks an alternative route if they find themselves on Doreen Road. This route will have to enable them to turn around without disrupting traffic.
