Suspect arrested for possession of stolen vehicle

A 28-year-old suspect was locked up by police after being found in possession of a stolen vehicle on Monday, 15 October.

The arrest took place in Rietfontein, Muldersdrift, where an on-duty officer received information about the stolen vehicle in Rietfontien. “On arrival at the suspect’s residential address, the officer spotted a white Mercedes Benz parked outside the suspect’s house,” said Muldersdrift Police spokesperson, Constable Slindile Ntuli.

She added, “The suspect was searched and the keys of the vehicle were found in his possession.”

“The suspect stated that he had borrowed the vehicle from a friend. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the vehicle had been stolen in Midrand in March 2017, and the correct registration number read KM 262 GP.

“The suspect was then arrested and appeared in court,” she said.

The station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Mankontsho Setlhare, condemned such behaviour in the area. He warned that all those found on the wrong side of the law shall be brought to book.
