Hijackers shot during escape
According to a report by Suburban Control Centre, the men, driving a white BMW, hijacked a customer at a pharmacy in Weltevreden Park.

Fortunately, inside the pharmacy were two customers one of whom was a member of the police and the other a civilian.

“They ran out of the store and attempted to stop the hijackers and hijacked vehicle when the suspects opened fire at them and they duly returned fire hitting both the driver and passenger.”
“The suspects tried to flee the scene up Acacia Street in Northcliff and shortly after lost control of the hijacked vehicle due to their injuries,” the report read.
It was reported that the passenger of the hijacked car was shot in the head and transported to hospital under police guard and the driver was declared dead on the scene.
