Cellphones worth a whopping R100 000 and R3 000 cash were stolen from an Ackermans store in Cosmo City when a group of armed robbers stormed the retailer on 2 October. The incident happened about 10.10am.
According to Honeydew Police spokesperson, Captain Balan Muthan, three armed assailants forced nine employees of the store to lie down on the floor and they demanded cash. A further six robbers entered the store and took cellphones. They ran out while the employees were lying on the floor.
“Cash of R3 000 was taken from the shop. No shots were fired and no one sustained injuries. Cellphones valued at R100 000 were stolen,” Muthan confirmed.
A white Nissan Almera and maroon Hyundai without registration numbers were used as getaway vehicles.
An investigation is underway.
