Heritage Day celebrated in great style

The learners from all grades dressed up in their finest traditional attire and performed different activities at the school.

The last day of the school term was celebrated with a colourful and vibrant Heritage Day function at King’s School West Rand on Friday, 21 September.

The learners from all grades dressed up in their finest traditional attire and performed different activities at the school.

The learners enjoyed a hive of fun activities such as playing indigenous games, including skipping rope, learning gumboot dancing, playing the marimba, photo-journalism, fashion and beauty, and hosting a cookout competition which was judged by independent experts.

Mrs SA finalist, Lerato Moyo, spent time with fashion enthusiasts teaching them how to apply traditional pieces to today’s clothing. She went through different designs which she fused with what her class was wearing. She also taught her class how to tie a traditional head wrap and in addition to that, she inspired confidence and self-love in her class members.
