Councillor upset with disobedient motorists during road tarring
"The road is closed,” Leah cautioned motorists using Van Dalen Road South in Ruimsig.
The Member of the Mayoral Committee for Economic Development and Ward 97 councillor, Leah Knott, was saddened by motorists who ignored the ‘No entry’ sign on the portion of Van Dalen Road South which is being surfaced in Ruimsig.
“Please do not use this road unless you live on one of the three properties allowed access via this route, as it is creating issues with the finalisation of the surfacing. The road is closed,” Leah cautioned the motorists.

This road used to be a dusty dirt road that seriously affected residents.

She told Northsider that the site was visited by officials after complaints about lawless drivers were received. As a result, rocks had to be placed on the road in order to prevent vehicles using the route.
“The rocks were placed to protect the primer coat, which was being damaged by the vehicles using the road during the surfacing process,” Leah explained.
The tarring is expected to be completed by Friday, 24 August.
