Learners qualify as first aiders

Ailing learners at Allen Glen High School are expected to be attended to rapidly by other learners who recently received their first aid certificates.

The group of nine learners from Grades 8 to 11 were honoured with their hard-earned Level 3 certificates for undergoing a first aid course during the school’s assembly .

The first aid team manager and teacher, Janet Moodie, provided details of the course. “All the learners that received their certificates in assembly have completed a five full day training course to qualify as Level 3 first aiders, which puts them substantially above a Level 1 paramedic, and for that reason we are proud of them,” she said.

“Whenever somebody at the school has a fall or faints, or we have a sporting fixture, a first aider will be there to assist,” she added.
