Japanese gymnasts to compete in SA

The event will be held in Centurion on 20 and 21 July.

Local gymnasts are expected to learn a few tricks from a group of Japanese gymnasts taking part in the inaugural African International Gymnastic Competition this weekend.

A total of 10 Japanese gymnasts will make their way to our shores for the first time in 50 years to compete against a South African team on our soil.

The event will be held in Centurion on 20 and 21 July.

In his keynote address at the official media launch of the competition on 3 July, the Embassy of Japan’s Minister and Deputy Head of Mission, Shuichiro Kawaguchi, said the gymnastics federations of Japan and South Africa have entered into an exchange agreement that will see Japan assist South African gymnasts to develop their skills to stand a better chance of qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympics Games.
