Child Welfare fosters hope for parents

Foster parents of the children at Child Welfare South Africa Roodepoort were handed a lifeline in the form of a package containing various essential items on Mandela Day.

CWSAR felt the need to thank and commemorate their foster parents by handing them a lifeline in the form of a package that included a number of essential items that will aid in their efforts. The parents were invited to CWSAR’s offices where they met the company behind the donation of the items – MTN.

“MTN brought us the donation and said we could do with it whatever we please, so we decided that nobody deserves it more than our foster parents,” said Estelle Odendaal, CWSAR’s director. In the gift package, the foster parents found essential items such as tinned food, toothbrushes and toothpaste, hygiene products and more.

The handing over of the packages came after a special get together where the staff from CWSAR addressed the foster parents, thanking them for the amazing work that they do with the children, and saying they understand that it’s not easy to raise someone else’s child as if it were your own. The parents were also reminded of the important role they play in the upbringing of the child they are looking after.

Once the parents had received their gifts, they were treated to some delicious soup, and then granted access to CWSAR’s storeroom, where they were able to take their pick from the clothes and other items to take home.
