Honeydew Police officer praised for sharing his lunch

Praise has been pouring in and some are calling for a promotion for a Honeydew Police officer who offered to share his lunch with a toddler at the station on 25 June.
Constable Sithole was captured sitting with Simone Dollenberg’s daughter while she was at the station with her grandparents.
Simone took to Facebook to share the photo depicting her daughter and the officer digging into a take-away meal.
She wrote the following caption – “Good news story for the day: my parents had to go to the police station today and took my daughter with [them]. Constable Sithole was so good with my daughter; he even told her to, and I quote her, ‘dig in’ while he was eating his lunch.”
“My daughter, after asking her grandparents if it was ok, sat down and enjoyed lunch with the constable,” she said.
Since most children view policemen as their heroes, Simone said her daughter couldn’t wait to call her and tell her about the entire experience.
Simone ended by saying, “It is situations like these that make me proud to be a South African”.
While Honeydew Police Station endures bad criticism from the public almost on a daily basis, the Honeydew Community Policing Forum public relations officer, Jon Rosenberg, thanked Simone for sharing her story on social media. “People are so quick to post negative comments about the police; it’s appreciated when we see such a positive post,” he said.
