Muldersdrift Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Masedi Masedi, said the driver was taken to a remote area between Cradlestone Mall and the Sasol garage, where the suspects loaded the cigarettes into their vehicles and left the driver. BCI confirmed that when its personnel arrived at the scene, the hijacked vehicle and the driver were found unharmed a short distance away from an informal settlement.
They also noted several empty cigarette cartons strewn over the scene, but despite many witnesses at the scene, no one was willing to give any information to their officers, or to the police, who arrived shortly afterwards.
In spite of the disinterest from the community, Masedi said the Trio Task Team is investigating this matter.
