9A side progresses to Steven Pienaar final
A chilly Highveld morning was warmed up for the U/9A Pano team when they won their quarter- and semifinal clashes to progress to the final of the Steven Pienaar Tournament.
The boys from Radiokop extended their impressive run in their participation in the tournament following tough wins in the quarter- and semifinals.
Panorama Football Club’s day got under way with a tough quarterfinal match against FC Da Boys. The tense match was made all the more difficult for both sides by the fact that the tournament directors decided to extend the team size from seven-a-side to nine-a-side.

The game simply couldn’t be decided in ordinary time as the final whistle blew with the score at 0–0.
The youngsters from Panorama were forced to go into a penalty shootout if they wanted to progress to the semifinals. Pano’s boys kept their nerve under pressure and emerged 3–2 victors in the penalty shootout thanks to penalties from Sam Walker, Callum Jones and Lu’ay Julius, as well as a penalty save from Callum.
The victory over FC Da Boys set up a semi-final clash with Westbury Spurs, who had defeated Yorkshires – with whom Panorama drew level in the group stages – in the quarter-finals.

The match was just as tense as the first, but this time around Callum was able to break the deadlock for the boys from Radiokop.
Their victory means they will be taking part in the final on 16 June.
