Measure your pressure
The initiative held right through May forms part of the global May Measurement Month campaign.
With 10 million deaths worldwide every year attributed to hypertension, it has become the leading risk factor for death worldwide.
To do their part in lowering the number of deaths, a group of UNISA Honours students held free blood pressure screenings at the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden throughout the month of May.

According to studies carried out around the world, only 50 per cent of people who have high blood pressure are aware thereof.
In an effort to combat such startling numbers, close to 1 000 people had their blood pressure screened in May.

May Measurement Month is a campaign initiated by the International Society of Hypertension and is carried out right through the month of May in more than 100 countries worldwide.
