Panorama U/9 team wins one, draws one at its first Steven Pienaar tournament

Panorama Football Club's U/9 team played the first two games of its first Steven Pienaar Tournament in Westbury during the weekend, winning one game and drawing the other.

The team from Panorama was both the first team from outside Westbury as well as the first Panorama team to take part in the tournament.

It was quite the eye-opening day for some of the boys and girls who had never been to play soccer in an area such as Westbury before.

For some of the children, who are mostly used to well-maintained, clean cut soccer pitches, the bumpier less than level fields at Westbury came as a bit of a surprise. Panorama’s first round of fixtures at the tournament got under way pretty early in the morning, with a match against the Ficky All Stars.

Once the Panorama team had grown accustomed to the field and the different style of play exhibited by the team from Westbury, they managed to get their game flowing and soon went a goal up. They earned themselves a second goal not long after, seeing the game through to a 2–0 victory.

The team’s next game came directly after the first, with the players coming up against Yorkshires this time around.

The Yorkshire team played as if they were on a mission and did everything in their power to shut Panorama out.

Despite hitting the woodwork once, and earning themselves a number of opportunities, Panorama was unable to breach the stubborn Yorkshires defence and the match ended in a 0–0 draw.

Panorama will play its second round of fixtures against Argentinos on Saturday, 19 May.
