While various structures of the police rallied to different hot spots during the Easter weekend, local security companies turned their focus to the suburbs.
EC Security and Londoloza Protection Group, in conjunction with the Community Policing Forum, conducted an inspection in the area following a string of house-breakings.

EC Security’s reaction manager, Norman Mphilo, told Northsider that they searched the green belt in Radiokop in a bid to reduce crime, especially during the holidays.
Mphilo said, “We found a number of shack-dwellers occupying the area. We searched for three-and-a-half hours before we found them”. He added that most of them were Lesotho citizens with valid passports.

A quantity of dagga and computer equipment was found in the shacks.
Mphilo said they were given two weeks to relocate before the security companies return with the police and Johannesburg Metro Police to evict them.
