Canterbury Prep donates plastics to Owl Rescue Centre
Canterbury Preparatory School recently ran an initiative with its learners to collect recyclable materials.
Canterbury Preparatory School recently undertook a recycling project in aid of the Owl Rescue Centre at Hartbeespoort. The school focused on collecting milk, juice and water bottles, and any other form of plastic containers.
According to the School’s spokesperson, Daksha Hira, they thought that the Owl Rescue Centre was an ‘appropriate initiative’ to support.
“We found this to be an appropriate initiative as our school has resident spotted eagle owls and we recently had the opportunity to witness the rearing of a baby owlet on our premises,” Daksha said.
The plastic will go to a nationwide collection and will be remoulded by the centre to make owl boxes to be sold to the public.
“We are very pleased with the children and parents of the school who came together and recycled their household plastic items for a good cause,” Daksha concluded.
