Black Panther, the eye-watering records and reviews

Black Panther has blitzed its way through box offices worldwide, topping charts not only in America but in South Africa as well.

Black Panther, the first Marvel movie with a majority black ensemble cast, the first with a black superhero lead, and so many other records, has changed the game in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Since its release last week, the movie has dominated box-office standings worldwide with its intake standing at $185,5million more than Peter Rabbit over the three-day weekend, and $218,7million more after the four-day weekend close.

Those who feel that Black Panther is simply performing well because of the hype and not the movie itself, should note that it has not only dominated the box-office standings worldwide, but is also held in high regard by several movie rating agencies.

• Internet Movie Database (IMDb) – 7,9/10

• Rotten Tomatoes – 97% (highest MCU movie rating)

• Metacritic – 87%

• Common Sense Media – 5/5

• Cinema Score – A+ (only the second superhero movie to ever achieve this score on the website)

Black Panther’s box-office performance was expected to be about $170 million in the USA, however it far surpassed this by reaching $202 003 951 for its three-day opening after final grosses.
