If I may borrow from your Editor’s desk headline, it is “Same community, same problems”.
The terrible abuse suffered by the pit bull cross puppy in Weltevreden Park once again shows the extent of sadism and evil that lives among us, and makes us ashamed to call ourselves a civilised society.
I have written many letters over the years with regard to animal cruelty, but this is one of the worst cases I have come across. It is said that a country’s development, and degree of civilisation is reflected by its citizens treatment of animals. Sadly, our own country can never advance, if we do not even have respect for our animals and wildlife.
