Get involved with training at Ruimsig Bowls Club
Ruimsig Bowls Club hosts a coaching session every Wednesday, usually conducted by their resident coach and greenskeeper, Mabs Rees.
In an attempt to get more involved with the community, Ruimsig Bowls Club hosts coaching sessions every Wednesday between 9am and 12pm which the public is welcome to join.
The sessions were initiated about five years ago by the club’s greenskeeper, Mabs Rees, after she joined the club.

Mabs has been bowling for 16 years, and offers immense experience and wisdom when it comes to the intricacies of the game.
Whenever Mabs is not around, her assistant coach, Dave Chantry, takes over the reins.

Dave, who is the chairman of the Sables District Coaches, joined Ruimsig Bowls Club two years ago, after previously playing at Honeydew Bowls Club. He has been bowling for 14 years and also has a wealth of experience in the game.
Mabs encourages people from all walks of life to come and take part in the sessions.

“It is open to the public, it is a training centre for all,” she said.
For beginners, attendance is free, but if you are affiliated to a club, it will cost you a R10 green fee.
For more information on the training sessions, feel free to contact either Mabs on 079 223 7056 or club captain, Mike, on 082 415 4076.
