Toyota Fortuner car-jammers not forgotten by local authorities

A photo of one of the car-jammer suspects has been doing the rounds on social media, with every crime awareness group on Facebook sharing it.

The search for the car jammers who have been terrorising the greater Roodepoort precinct still continues.

The suspects managed to dodge arrest after their now captured infamous white Toyota Fortuner was involved in a high-speed chase in the area resulting in a collision and abandonment of the vehicle in Florida Park on 23 November.

Bruce Webster from Apcan Security, who was in the forefront during the chase, told Northsider that the search still continues. “There’s been nothing as yet but we still searching for these guys,” he said.

A photo of one of the suspects has been making rounds on social media, with every crime awareness group on Facebook sharing the man’s photo.

Webster said the photo of the suspect was screen grabbed from a CCTV footage which was obtained from a garage.

The Fortuner suspect was caught on CCTV cameras stealing from a Mercedes Benz at a Sasol garage in Ruimsig recently. In addition, the same vehicle was spotted stealing from another vehicle at a crèche in Constantia Kloof.

Honeydew Police spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan said he was aware of the wanted car-jammers; however, disapproved the publication from publishing the photo of the given suspect since an order has not be granted by them.
