With reference to the letter from Bosco from Roodepoort under the headline, New Stopcock Law in the Northsider of 10 November:
Hi Bosco, this is ‘Anonymous’ but please call me Oomtom. Your letter is disturbing to say the least and enforces my belief that Joburg Water (JW) does not actually care or give a fig about saving water as long they can bill someone for what their meters say has been used.
They are also hoping that consumption figures will rise so that they can implement their pending price hike, thereby raking in more cash to make them look good and preventing the customers from fixing leaks and wastages.
JW is obviously a circus and the clowns are running the show!
Maybe Mayor Herman Mashaba could shed a little light on who at JW is responsible for coming up with these hair-brained ideas which defy all logic.
Then of course, maybe in the parallel universe that JW operates in, it all makes sense.
