Domestic workers receive expert training

Experienced nursing professional Rosemary Meki recently ploughed her expertise back into the community at a domestic workers’ empowerment workshop organised by Hirsch’s Strubens Valley.
Rosemary used her 37 years of nursing experience to conduct the workshop, which focused on caregiving for the frail and elderly.
“We were so thrilled to have Rosemary on board for our monthly domestic workers’ training session.
She encouraged and motivated the women to become caregivers for the elderly, something that is missing in our society,” said Lisa Gailey, Hirsch’s public relations officer.

The programme also covered training about a variety of cleaning products from the company’s services department.
The company also presented a gift voucher of R300 and a certificate of recognition to Memory Ncube from Roodepoort, the Domestic Worker of the Month.
Memory’s employer, Caroline Mulder, described her as an absolute gem in the house and was extremely for everything that she had done for Caroline’s family.
Employers enter the competition on behalf of their domestic workers, by submitting details to Hirsch’s.
