Bakkie canopies targeted by criminals
At least five incidents of canopy theft have been reported to the police.
The theft of bakkie canopies has come under focus after the Honeydew Police raised concerns about the scourge.
Spokesperson for Honeydew Police Station, Captain Balan Muthan, told Northsider that the theft of bakkie canopies is on the rise in areas such as Cosmo City, and bakkie-owners need to be wary.

“Theft of bakkie canopies, which falls under theft out of motor vehicle, has increased in Cosmo City. Perpetrators are stealing canopies in the area, and we’ve had at least five incidents reported,” said Muthan.
He added that they are not aware where these canopies are moved to, but police are investigating this matter.
