CPF fun run huge success
Although the attendance was disappointing it was a resounding success
Weltevreden Park Primary was a hive of activity when community members were eager to work up a sweat.
They arrived in numbers to support the Honeydew Community Policing Forum’s 5km fun run/ walk. Some brought along their fur kids who were very excited to see some of their friends there too.
According to Jon Rosenberg the attendance was a bit disappointing, given that they had done a lot more advertising for the event this year than ever before.

He said there were just under 200 participants, including some serious runners, who thoroughly enjoyed the day.
“Once again, Palm Court Spar donated boerewors, Lupo Bakery supplied the rolls and Beagle Watch kindly cooked the food for us. Weltevreden Park Primary learners sold cold drinks, water and sweets, and there were also other food stalls selling bacon rolls, candy floss, coffee, and ice cream. The day was also supported by security companies and EMS, who also made donations to the CPF,” Jon said. He added that they made a profit of R5 046 for the day.

He said the Barnyard fundraiser the following weekend was a resounding success, and all who attended had a blast. The show was great, but even more so was the vibe created by those watching it. The CPF made a much-needed R20 100 profit.
“We are going to use the money to ensure that we can continue to provide a free trauma counselling service to victims of crime,” he said.

The winning trophy in the fun run/ walk went to Suffer Squad followed by Beagle Watch. The A Team finished in third place.
