No success in tracing road rage suspects

Michael’s mother Christien Koekemoer says no one has come forward with information

The family of Michael Bentley (18) who was allegedly assaulted and left for dead following a road rage incident last month, has not had any success in nabbing the men involved.

The incident happened on 30 September at the intersection between Hendrik Potgieter Road and Van Der Kloof Street in Ruimsig, when Michael was travelling home and accidentally bumped into another vehicle.

The youngster, who has been left with permanent scars on his head and face, said that he was beaten up with a baseball bat and dragged out of his vehicle.

“There were three or four white guys in the silver vehicle I bumped into,” Michael described the ordeal.

He added that he apologised and asked the men to take down his details, but they refused and decided to assault him and damage his car instead.

A piece of the wooden bat used to assault Michael was found in his car.

Michael’s mother, Christien Koekemoer, told Northsider that no one has come forward with information, so the family has decided to leave the matter in the police’s hands.
